Finding the Right Therapist for You

The relationship between counsellor/psychotherapist and client is the most important contributor to therapy. When we decide, perhaps after much hesitation, that we need to talk to a therapist about our personal problems, what matters most is that we feel comfortable talking to them about anything, even the truly difficult things about ourselves or others.

In order for therapy to take place, you must feel able to talk openly to the therapist and have a sense of a good enough connection with him or her. That's why, more than my skills and qualification gained through my training, I trust my ability to reach out to you in distress and begin to make a therapeutic relationship. I believe that this relationship will support and encourage you to develop self awareness and find your way to a calmer and more hopeful place.

About Me

Monica Balggan

I am a qualified and experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in West London. I work with individuals from all walks of life, with different emotional needs and issues. I view counselling as a collaborative way of working with you. We work together in a confidential and non-judgemental space to explore and unravel some of your current difficulties and move towards identifying necessary changes that will move you towards a less distressing place, where you can begin to live your life to the full.

My professional training included a variety of therapeutic approaches such as psychodynamic, humanistic, gestalt and many others, which enable me to work as an integrative counsellor to suit each client's individual needs.

Being a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), I fully adhere to its code of ethics.

About

What to Expect

Our Initial Conversation

Once you have decided to try counselling, you might feel anxious about your first session. Taking the first step to make a decision to get help and address the issues takes courage and is very commendable. Knowing what to expect during your first session should help you feel more relaxed about your initial conversation.

I believe that the relationship between the therapist and the client is a crucial factor in order for counselling to be effective. Our first session is an opportunity for us to meet, for you to share what has brought you to counselling and what your expectations are. I can also answer any questions that you may have.

Counselling and Psychotherapy is effective when trust is the foundation of the therapeutic process.

If you're happy to go ahead after our initial conversation, we will then enter into a therapeutic working alliance that is normally structured around weekly sessions, each session will be for 50 minutes.

There is no specific number of sessions that you have to sign up for. Some people require short term therapy and others work long term, how long we work together is entirely dependent on what you feel you need and is something that we will decide together.

Please contact me on 07505098188 or Click here to email me me about therapy.
